The Estuary festival is a collaboration between Metal Southend and Cement Fields in North Kent. Taking place on the river itself, and along the South Essex and North Kent coastline, the festival celebrates the lives, landscapes and histories of the spectacular Thames Estuary. The Opening Weekend, entitled “An Unknown Earth”, is an online programme – conceived and re-framed in light of COVID-19, and curated by four Estuary-based artists – Jas DhillonElsa JamesJames Marriott and Lu Williams. It includes pre-recorded artistic interventions and performances in the Estuary landscape, as well as live, online discussions, readings and talks that explore and respond to powerful themes resonant to the Estuary – from climate justice and the environment, to rebellion and imperial legacy.

James Marriott kindly invited TCAG to speak as part of the opening weekend events in an online panel discussion, talking about the proposed Lower Thames Crossing, and our fight against it!
