Supplementary Consultation 2020 Questions 1a and 1b
Before reading this post please consider reading Supplementary Consultation 2020 Step by Step if you haven’t already!
There is also further info on the official Highways England LTC consultation website, and on our website.
Please DO NOT copy and paste any content on our website (or anywhere else for that matter!) into your consultation response. In 2016 HE lumped together 13,000 responses as 1 response as they considered them to be an organised group response as they used a template with a free comments box. We do NOT want a repeat of that this time around, and they have warned us they will do the same again if they consider responses to be organised responses.
Question 1 – South of the river in Kent
Question 1a. Do you support or oppose the proposed changes south of the river?
- Here you have a choice to select from Strongly Support to Strongly Oppose
Question 1b. Please let HE know the reasons for your response to Q1a and any other comments you have on the proposed changes south of the river.
You may want to ask yourself (in no particular order):
- Are you happy about the impact of LTC on the AONB Shorne Country Park? Is it right to be impacting such a beautiful and environmentally thriving and valuable forest/countryside? Why has it taken so long for HE to realise a whacking great gas main in this location? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- Are the A2/M2 Eastbound Connections adequate? Are you happy to drive from Valley Drive / Gravesend East to the A2 eastbound or the A289 you will still need to access the A2 at Brewers Road via the 2-way link road? Is it ok that from Shorne and Cobham if you want to get to the M2 you will need to take a circuitous detour along the A289, exit at the A226, and then return along the A289? Do you have concerns that drivers will seek alternate routes, perhaps via Pear Tree Lane to the A226 or through Cobhambury Road to the A228? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- Are the utility works in Jeskyns Community Woodland acceptable? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/impacts-of-ltc-on-forests-and-woodlands/)
- What do you think about the Environmental mitigation at Shorne West? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- Is it acceptable that three extra properties would be lost, including cottages originally built for First World War veterans, at the junction of Thong Lane and Shorne Ifield Road in Thong? (see – www.kentonline.co.uk/gravesend/news/crossing-plan-would-destroy-ancient-woodland-222777/)
- What do you think about the fact that the LTC will now have a significantly greater impact on ancient woodland, AONBs, and SSSIs, in particular Claylane Woods, Shorne Woods, Shorne Country Park, and even potentially Ashenbank Woods?
- What impact will the Utility works have on your life, journeys from home, to work, shopping etc, the local community and environment? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- Is it adequate to lose a lane between Gravesend East and the Inn on the Lake? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- How many lanes will there be at the Thong Lane junction? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- Are you happy with some of the visual impacts the LTC would have on our local community? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- What do you think of the green bridge at Thong Lane? What do you think of the loss of properties like Harshill Nursery? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- What do you think of the Brewers Lane overbridge area?
- What do you think of the 3 possible locations for the new substation? Measuring approximately 70m x 40m what impact will it have visually on the area?(see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- What do you think of the changes to traffic flow with the LTC? Are the increases in traffic acceptable?
- What do you think of the Gravesend East Junction? Is it any better than before?
- Are there adequate direct connections? (see – www.thamescrossingactiongroup.com/ltc-south-of-the-river)
- How would the construction impacts affect you?
These are not the only things you can comment on, if you think of anything else you feel is relevant and you wish to share, put it in!
