LTC Consultation – Your Response – Question 8

Before reading this post please consider reading Statutory Consultation and LTC Consultation – Your Response if you haven’t already!

As outlined in those posts there is also info on the official HE website and on our website.

Please DO NOT copy and paste any content on our website (or anywhere else for that matter!) into your consultation response.  In 2016 HE lumped together 13,000 responses as 1 response as they considered them to be an organised group response as they used a template with a free comments box.  We do NOT want a repeat of that this time around, and they have warned us they will do the same again if they consider responses to be organised responses.

Question 8 -Proposed rest and service area, and maintenance depot

To be clear this is a full service station that would be open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Parking for 400 cars, 80 HGVs and 16 coaches. Electric car charging points, toilets, washing facilities and showers for HGV drivers, fuel, and food and drink outlets.

A maintenance depot and a provisional Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) facility.

Q8a. Do you support or oppose their proposals for a rest and service area in this location?
  • Here you have a choice to select from Strongly Support to Strongly Oppose

Do you want a rest and service area at East Tilbury?

Q8b. Do you support or oppose their proposals for the maintenance depot in this location?
  • Here you have a choice to select from Strongly Support to Strongly Oppose

Do you want a maintenance depot at East Tilbury?

Q8c. Please let HE know the reasons for your response to Q8a and Q8b, and any other views you have on their proposals for a rest and service area, and for the maintenance depot.

Do you think there is a need for a rest and service area?

Do you think it is in the right location?

Do you think the service area and/or maintenance depot could be better located elsewhere? Say where and why.

Have you got concerns over pollution from the rest and service area? (Air, noise, light, vibration)

Do you feel it is too close to homes?

Do you see this as another barrier cutting East Tilbury off from other areas and communities?

Do you have concerns over emergency vehicles needing to access the service area and LTC via local roads?

Do you have concerns about the potential of LTC traffic being able to escape through the service area onto local roads?

Are you worried about the amount of litter from the services impacting the area?

Do you have concerns over the impact to people’s health having a 24/7 service area on their doorsteps?

Do you feel that it is too close to residential areas, Coalhouse Fort, the 2 Forts Walk?

Do you think HGV drivers will pay to park there, or will they look for free alternatives as they do now?
