LTC Consultation – Your Response – Question 7

Before reading this post please consider reading Statutory Consultation and LTC Consultation – Your Response if you haven’t already!

As outlined in those posts there is also info on the official HE website and on our website.

Please DO NOT copy and paste any content on our website (or anywhere else for that matter!) into your consultation response.  In 2016 HE lumped together 13,000 responses as 1 response as they considered them to be an organised group response as they used a template with a free comments box.  We do NOT want a repeat of that this time around, and they have warned us they will do the same again if they consider responses to be organised responses.

Question 7 – Development boundary
  • HE have defined the area of land where the proposed Lower Thames Crossing would be situated, as well as land that may be required to enable construction and to provide mitigation for some of the impacts associated with construction.  This is called the development boundary, and it can be seen in Section 6 of Your guide to consultation and our Map Books.  It identifies land and property that may need to be acquired permanently or used temporarily for the Lower Thames Crossing to be built and maintained.  We will continue to work closely with the owners and occupiers of this land and property as the project develops.

Q7a. Do you support or oppose the proposed area of land we require to build the Lower Thames Crossing?
  • Here you have a choice to select from Strongly Support to Strongly Oppose

Are you happy with how much, and where HE are taking land for LTC?
Do you think it is worth so much damage and destruction?

Q7b. Please let us know the reasons for your responses to Q7a and any other views you have on the land we require to build the Lower Thames Crossing.

Is this good use for Grade 1 listed agricultural land?

Is this a good enough reason to demolish Grade 2 listed buildings, or other homes?

Does this warrant destroying precious greenbelt?

Is it worth directly or indirectly damaging 13 ancient woods and threatening 10 veteran trees as outlined by the Woodland Trust?

Is it right to be splitting communities from each other?

Does it warrant the extra 68% of land grabbed in July 2018?

What will the impact be to residents stranded between or next to LTC and connection roads?

Do you feel you have enough info about all the extra flood and environmental mitigation land they want to take?  If not tell them!

Is it acceptable that families who live outside of the development boundary have received letters in error from HE stating they are now within the development boundary and their homes will now be needed, even though they are not?

What are the health impacts on people before, during and after LTC is built?  Is it acceptable that residents are suffering with thoughts of suicide, depression, heart attacks, and other physical and mental health problems as a result of the impacts of LTC?

Is is right that some residents don’t feel they have had adequate info and support from HE after receiving letters regarding LTC?

Is it worth all the destruction since it doesn’t solve the issues we all suffer with at the Dartford Crossing?

Does it warrant taking small businesses and people’s livelihoods, such as stable yards, away?
